III. EMI reducing

Top  Previous  Next

When your product’s EMI level exceeds the standard and failed to reach EMC compliance, the EMCExplorer-SAAS can help you to reduce the EMI by following various ways:

Reduce EMI by EMI physical position locating

By computing and comparing the spectrum of all TP (testing point) and tracing the virtual location on workspace of the one has exceeded EMI limitation at specific frequency, find the actual physical location on the circuit board of the TP which has the maximum EMI of the specific frequency. Modify the board around that TP (adjust capacitance, inductance or resistance; modify wiring diagram; replace the IC devices, etc.), then measure the voltage signal by an oscilloscope again and re-upload the data, redo the spectrum analysis and comparison to see whether the EMI at specific frequency is reduced or not; if it is reduced, keep repeating above process until the EMI level is largely reduced and accord with  the EMC standard, otherwise, rollback the modification and try other solutions.

Reduce EMI by EMI waveform position locating

Measure the voltage waveform of circuit’s DC power input port by an oscilloscope and perform Time/Frequency domain analysis, to discover EMI of specific frequency location in the waveform, modify the circuit parameter (adjust capacitance, inductance or resistance; modify wiring diagram; replace the IC devices, etc.) meanwhile monitor the waveform of the signal, if in the EMI locations of the waveform, the waveform becomes smooth, keep repeating above process until the EMI level is largely reduced and accord with  the EMC standard, otherwise, rollback the modification and try other solutions.

Example:

Stronger 58MHz EMI is detected for the original signal at time 3570X2.00e-9 .

After modification of the circuit with above mentioned methodologies, the strength of 58MHz EMI at time 3570X2.00e-9 is reduced.

Comparison of the spectrum of signals before and after the circuit modification indicates the EMI of signal d_SC1_18.txt is obviously reduced.
